Dengue and Malaria are
on a steep rise. We all are taking utmost care to protect ourselves
from mosquito bites by using mosquito repellent cream, wearing full
sleeves dresses, keeping doors and windows closed and also using
mosquito repellent mats or liquids or sprays that are sold under
various brand names in the market. Despite their use, it is common to
see mosquitoes hovering around with the best of repellents in action.
Moreover they cannot be used all the time, they are expensive and for
many and up with allergies due to them. But there is a very easy ,
home method to drive away mosquitoes from home. Use Camphor.

What
is camphor?

Camphor
, also know as Kapur is a waxy, white or transparent substance
extracted from the wood of the Camphor Laurel tree which is found in
Asia. Camphor has many medicinal uses. In throat lozenges and cough
syrups and in Vicks, camphor is used. Camphor oil relieves nasal
congestion and cough when rubbed on the chest. It is also used in
some skin ointments, creams because it is can be absorbed through
skin and is effective at treating pain locally. Camphor is known to
improve the quality of air making it a better for our heart and
lungs.

• Using
  camphor is simple and most important of all a cost effective way to
  drive away mosquitoes. Here are the simple ways on how you can use
  camphor:


• Use
  a commercially available mosquito repellent machine (which you must
  have already have) and place 2 tablets of
  camphor on the surface, Just look at the picture below. Plug it for
  an hour and see the results. You can use this twice in the day. The
  camphor when placed on a warm surface evaporates, acts with air
  quickly to repel mosquitoes away.


• You can also place 2
  camphor tablets in different corners of the room. You can find those
  areas in your home where mosquitoes seem to love to stay. Leave them
  there and they will evaporate in a day or so keeping the air purer
  and mosquito free.


• You can take a wide opened cup or plate
  with water. Drop 2 camphor tablets into the water. Keep the cup with
  water and camphor in your bedroom. Depending on the size of the room,
  the quantity of water and camphor tablets may differ. Water evaporate
  at normal temperature. Camphor slowly started dissolving in water.
  The water evaporates with Camphor smell. Adding little bit hot water
  gives instant action.
