No doubt that missing period is either an indicator of best of good news or in worst cases, a nightmare. Did you know there are these subtle hints you can use to find out whether you are pregnant or not??  And these are the signs you get before a missed period, which makes them even more necessary to be aware of so that you can be more prompt in taking the subsequent course of action. Let’s see what those symptoms are.

1. Bleeding & Cramps

In case of unprotected sex or any birth control failure during sex during your fertile window, you might want to be looking out for menstrual cramps, light spotting or bleeding a week or two before your missed period. But at the same time, not everybody experiences these symptoms. These symptoms may last for some hours to several days depending on person to person. And these may be taken as early signs of pregnancy. However heavy bleeding could be sign of miscarriage or a period.

2. Elevated Basal body temperature

It is interesting to know that body temperature changes during ovulation. Before one to two weeks of ovulation, your basal body temperature may be around 97.2 to 97.7°F. This is an average BBT while your body is ready to get pregnant. After one to two days of this fertile period, your BBT will increase by 0.4 to 1° and it decreases after you complete your period. But in pregnancy, the BBT remains elevated. A sudden drop in BBT within a week of ovulation is known as implantation dip and it means your foetus has been implantedwhich is then accompanied by light spotting.

3. Sore, tender & heavy breast

The moment foetus is implanted; the body sends hormones to prepare for you to conceive after 40 weeks. These hormones would do various things to change your body to adjust to the growing foetus. Your breasts will also change, and this change can easily be noticed by you. Blood vessels dilate during this period allowing the breasts to grow. You might perceive this as swelling of breasts as your breasts grow larger and the areolas become darker. Basically this is for the purpose of lactation for the child. Your breasts may feel tobe tingly, swollen, and sore to touch. You will also feel uncomfortable and sick due to it.

4. Bloating & feeling of Tightness

Now your tummy might protrude. You might feel you are full in your stomach. Your pants may go tight and your best fitting jeans may feel like an assault to wear. You might need to unbutton to breathe easily. Don’t be confused, I am not talking about after effect of an awesome meal where you ate your heart out and now you are unable to move, during pregnancy this would go on throughout the day. You may look like pregnant even if your foetus is tiny, or just a ball of cells (blastocyst).

5. Nausea

During early stages, nauseaor morning sickness is a classic pregnancy sign that you can experience. This might seem dramatic to you but it is a time tested sign. This is observed during initial weeks, even before a missed period or when a pregnancy is confirmed. On the other hand, it might be just an upset stomach. So once again, look for other signs too before concluding.

6. Fatigue

If you are expecting pregnancy and also experience fatiguewithout a reason, itmay be a sign of pregnancy, before a missed period. Now don’t be over cautious, fatigue can also be due to health issues like anaemia, hypothyroidism, etc., so don’t just jump to conclusion straight away and start a panic attack out of nowhere.

7. Urge to pee

You may feel like making a run for it every now and then towards the restroom as you miss your period. This frequent urge may specially arise during night hours and might get annoying for you. It is a common symptom of pregnancy. Again on the other hand, it might just be a UTI.

8. Dizziness

During first trimester of pregnancy you body may experience low blood pressure due to which you might feel dizziness and light-headedness.
