Especially they appear on those areas of the body that are rich in sebaceous glands (the oil producing glands of the skin). It is said that they are caused by excess of sebaceous glands . When there is excess oil in the skin, the pores of the skin thickens. The oil collects in the pores and then get blocked in the pores. At the tip of the blocked pores, the oil is exposed to the air, which turns black in color and in this way blackheads are formed.
