Natural Remedies for Tired Eyes
Tiredness of the eyes is not a very serious problem, but it does affect the overall health. Hence the problem should be addressed promptly as it can worsen and disturb vision. There are various natural home remedies that help in treating tired eyes.
- Diet: First of all, have a proper balanced diet as inadequate intake of vitamins B12, D and K may cause problems of the eyes.
- Rest your eyes: Give rest to your eye at regular intervals.Take one minute of rest for every 15 minutes spent in front of the computer screen. This rule applies anytime you are using your eyes for reading, doing crafts or playing video games. Also have proper sleep at night.
- Cold Spoons: Keep a couple of spoons in the refrigerator for some time. Do not freeze them. Place these cold spoons over your eyes for sometime.
- Cold Milk: You can also soak cotton balls in cold milk and place them over the eyelids.
- Splashing of Water: Simply splashing cold water on the eyes is also very beneficial in alleviating tiredness.
- Cucumber Slice: Place fresh cucumber slices over your eyes. This is extremely soothing and helps to reduce eye discomfort. Cotton pads soaked in herbal teas can also be used on the eyes.
- Essential Oil: Put few drops of essential oil in water. Soak cotton balls in the water and place on the eyelids. This gives a refreshing effect. You can also use rose water.
- Used tea bags: Take 2 used teabags. Keep them in the freezer for some time. Place them on your tired eyes for few minutes.
- Warm water compress: To relax and calm your tired eyes after a long day, bring water to a boil. Remove from heat and let it cool. Immerse a washcloth in the water and drape across your face to relieve pain and irritation and gear up to enjoy a good night’s sleep.
