6. Cumin
Cumin seed stimulates digestion and helps reduce digestive problems in babies, like gas ad acidity.
1. Take 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds and boil it in a cup of water for 5-6 minutes.
2. Allow it to cool and strain the water.
3. Give your baby 1- 2 teaspoons of this water 5-6 times a day.
7. Coconut Oil
The anti-inflammatory property present in coconut oil can reduce inflammation associated with acid reflux. Moreover, it also keeps the baby’s digestive system lubricated for effective functioning. Coconut oil contains a potent antimicrobial fatty acid called ‘Lauric acid’, which protect the immune system of newborn babies.
1. Add half to one teaspoon of extra-virgin/organic coconut oil to baby’s food like cereal or warm drink and feed the baby. Follow this 2-3 times a day.
2. Alternatively, mix equal amounts of ginger oil and coconut oil and gently massage baby’s stomach in circular direction for 1-2 minutes. Repeat this 2-3 times a day.
8. Peppermint
Peppermint has antispasmodic and soothing properties which can effectively calm the baby’s digestive system helps relieve problems associated with acid reflux such as indigestion and inflammation.
1. Add 2 drops of organic peppermint oil to 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil. Mix well and massage gently baby’s abdominal area in circular motions. Follow this at least twice a day.
2. Breastfeeding mothers can have peppermint tea 2-3 times a day for her.
9. Chamomile
Chamomile has antispasmodic and soothing properties that helps improve digestion, stimulates relaxation and relieve stomach pain.
1. Boil half teaspoon of dried chamomile flowers in cup of water for 5 minutes.
2. Allow it to cool and strain the water.
3. Give your baby 1-2 teaspoon of this water throughout the day.
Note:Nursing mothers can also try this cup of chamomile tea twice a day.
