We all have been checked for drinking 'too much soft drinks' by our parents. We might often overlook and consider them old fashioned but we don't realise how much do these carbonated soft drinks harm our body.

3. Dehydration

Caffeine and sugar cause dehydration. Caffeine is a diuretic and causes an increase in urine volume by draining water from cells in our body. And high concentration of sugar is drawing off water as well because your kidneys try to expel the excess sugar out of the blood. When you drink a caffeinated soda to quench your thirst, you will actually become even thirstier. This is why you run for water after you've had a cola.



4. Soda increases your blood pressure.

Yes, people do get sugar high. There is proof that overconsumption of fructose, particularly in the form of soft drinks, leads to an increase in blood pressure.

5. It may lead to heart disease

Drinking soda in average known quantities may result in 48% increased risk of metabolic syndrome, a key predecessor of heart disease and diabetes. This is why heart patients are prescribed to keep off of soda.

6. Soda destroys your teeth.

As such we don't take care of our teeth. And on top of that we eat and drink all junk food and soft drinks. Soda eats up and dissolves the tooth enamel. This means doubling or tripling the incidence of tooth decay.
